Young people aged 15-24 make up 13% of the population [i]. It can be difficult to know where to start when you are looking for employment.
Sometimes it can be frustrating when you are asked to have job experience when you were applying for that job to get just that! When you are worried about money, it can be tempting to take the first job you are offered. But, did you know that the Department of Human Services can help out with payment while you are looking for work or studying? That way you can concentrate on finding the job that YOU want.
Australian Government – Department of Employment – Transition to Work program
Transition to Work is a new service to support young people aged 15-21 on their journey to employment. The service will provide intensive, pre-employment support to improve the work-readiness of young people and help them to work (including apprenticeships and traineeships) or education.
